Self-help and self-referral

There are many conditions that can be managed without a doctor. On the NHS page, you can find a list of conditions and the best approach to dealing with them.

Also, there are many other services to support you. Please visit our Self-referral page to know more about them.

Appointments System

Most doctor's appointments are released on the day at 8 AM for patients who need to speak to a GP urgently. Patients can still call us on the day and request to speak to a GP even if it is not urgent however may be advised to pre-book or call back another day if we are unable to offer an appointment on the same day.  You will first be offered a telephone appointment with a GP and if the doctor needs to see you they will book you in for a Face-to-Face consultation. You can also pre-book telephone appointments with a GP up to 3 weeks in advance.

We recommend patients call the surgery after 10 AM for the following queries as you are less likely to wait longer in the queue.

  • Booking routine telephone appointments with a GP (Please note if all pre-bookable appointments are fully booked, you may be asked to ring on the day)
  • Pre-bookable appointments with a GP can be booked 3 weeks in advance
  • Test result queries
  • Booking appointments with the Nurse (face to face appointments)
  • Prescription queries
  • Referral queries
  • Admin queries

Telephone Appointments

Please note that the telephone appointments are 10 minutes and the Dr will attempt to call 2x. We recommend one problem per appointment. If you wish to discuss multiple issues, please mention this at the start of the appointment so that together we can prioritise what can safely be dealt with on the day.

Note: times for telephone consultations can only be approximate, it is not possible for doctors to know how long each call will take and some calls take longer than anticipated.  The doctor will call you during the morning or afternoon session in which the call is booked.

Nursing Appointments

Patients can pre-book an appointment with the Nurse. You can book with the nurse for the following:

  • Annual health checks such as diabetes, asthma, COPD reviews
  • Immunisation
  • Vaccination such as for flu, pneumococcal, shingles, pertussis, and more.
  • Travel clinic ( Currently access unavailable, for any travel vaccination please visit a travel clinic or pharmacy)

Face to Face Appointments

Please be assured that the practice has strict infection prevention control measures in place and should you require a face-to-face consultation with a clinician this can be arranged safely.

Face-to-face appointments with the doctors are usually booked by the clinician directly or a member of the team will contact you to book it for you. Your face-to-face appointments will be based at either of our branches. Please ensure you wear a face covering when attending the practice.

You can attend the practice in person but please ensure you follow social distancing measures and do not attend if you have symptoms of COVID-19, are self-isolating due to a positive COVID-19 test, or have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19.

Home Visits

Home visits are provided for those who are housebound if the doctor thinks it is medically necessary - if you do need a home visit, please contact the surgery earlier on the day, preferably before 11 AM. We do not provide home visits for patients who live outside our catchment area.
