Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Rutland House Surgery

Overview

Rutland House Surgery uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support our clinical and administrative teams in delivering safe, efficient, and high‑quality care.

AI does not replace healthcare professionals. It is used to assist them in their work so they can spend more time focusing on patients.

How We Use AI

Clinical Notes (Scribe)

We use Scribe, a clinical note support system, to help clinicians:

  • Record consultations more efficiently
  • Create accurate clinical notes and referral letters
  • Reduce administrative workload

This allows clinicians to focus more on your care during appointments.

Document Management (Anima)

We use Anima to:

  • Manage clinical documents securely
  • Process information more quickly and accurately
  • Ensure important information is available when needed

Clinical Decision Support

Some AI tools may assist clinicians by:

  • Highlighting relevant clinical information
  • Identifying possible medication interactions

All decisions are reviewed and confirmed by a clinician.

Patient Triage and Care Navigation

AI may be used within online systems to:

  • Help guide patients to the most appropriate service
  • Support appointment management

Your Information and Data

What Data May Be Used

AI systems may process:

  • Clinical notes and referral information
  • Test results and monitoring data
  • Information you provide through forms or online services

Your identifiable information is only used when necessary.

How Your Data Is Protected

We follow strict data protection standards:

  • Secure systems with encryption
  • Restricted access to authorised staff only
  • Full compliance with UK GDPR and NHS regulations

Benefits for Patients

Using AI helps us to:

  • Spend more time with patients
  • Improve accuracy of clinical records
  • Provide faster referrals and follow-up care
  • Manage information more efficiently

Limitations

AI systems:

  • Are not perfect and may require review
  • Do not replace clinical judgement
  • Do not understand personal circumstances or emotions

A clinician is always responsible for your care.

Your Choice

We understand that technology can feel unfamiliar.

  • You may ask questions at any time
  • In most cases, you can object to your information being used in this way

Dementia Awareness – Patient Coffee Afternoon Success

We were delighted to host our Dementia Awareness Patient Coffee Afternoon, which proved to be a warm, engaging, and informative event for everyone who attended.

The session brought together patients and family members, creating a welcoming space for conversation, support, and learning. We are grateful to the two community organisations who joined us:

  • Clarie, Haringey Dementia Co‑ordinator
  • Peter and a colleague from Carers First

Both groups spoke with attendees, shared valuable advice, and distributed helpful leaflets and information about local dementia support. Their contribution was greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, Evleen from the Hill‑Dene Memory Café was unable to attend due to illness, and we wish her a speedy recovery.

Engagement & Feedback

A number of feedback forms were completed by patients, family members, and Carers First. Some individuals were understandably unable to complete forms due to dementia.
(A summary of the feedback will be added once ready.)

Health Support Provided

  • Blood pressure checks were carried out during the event.
  • Several patients were booked for blood test appointments.
  • One patient received their blood test results on the day.

All attendees also received a leaflet detailing all Dementia Services available in Haringey, ensuring continued access to local support.

Thank You

A heartfelt thank you to Felicita and Louise for their hard work and support in making this event a success. Their contributions helped ensure a smooth, meaningful experience for all involved.
